Lime Mule

A Lime Mule is a variation of a Moscow Mule cocktail that uses Lime-Flavored Vodka. It follows the same recipe for a Moscow Mule but swaps Absolut Vodka for Absolut Lime!

Like a classic Mule, there’s the wonderful spiciness of ginger beer which marries perfectly with the taste of fresh lime. But with the Lime Mule, you get the full taste of lime, not just the zest but the whole fruit thanks to the base of Lime-Flavored Vodka. So, if you love the taste of lime, this is your drink!

To discuss the origins of the Lime Mule, we first need to look at the classic Moscow Mule, which ranked as the third most popular cocktail here on Absolut Drinks.

As the story goes, the Moscow Mule originated in New York but gained popularity in Los Angeles during the early 1940s. The drink’s rise to fame came when a bartender, a Vodka distributor, and a struggling Ginger Beer maker teamed up to shake up the drinking scene.

Their genius marketing move of serving the cocktail in a unique Copper Mule Mug quickly made the Moscow Mule a sensation. And it’s been a favorite ever since.

Absolut Lime, Lime-Flavored Vodka, was released in 2017 and the recipe for the Lime Mule likely followed soon after.

• Fresh Lime Juice
  You weren’t really going to use store-bought stuff, were you? No, no. Buy some lime and a Citrus Elbow (or Citrus Juicer) and make your own Lime Juice. If you want your Mule to taste incredible, like the ones you get at a bar, you’ve got to make your own juice.
• Even more Lime Juice
  In the video, you’ll notice when Rico garnishes his drink, he squeezes the Lime Wedge over it to add even more Lime Juice before dropping it into the Mule Mug. If you’re a Lime lover like we are, we suggest squeezing your garnish for that extra burst of juice.
• Chill your Mule Mug
  Put your Mule Mug (Copper or Stainless-Steel) in the freezer for 10 minutes before mixing. A chilled Mule Mug just adds to the drinking experience. 
• Choose the best ingredients

  When making a Mule, the simplicity of its ingredients means there’s no room for error, so it’s crucial to pick the best ones based on your tastes.
  
  For instance, if you prefer a Ginger Beer that’s spicier or has a sharper bite, choose your favorite brand.
