Absolut Lime Mule Recipe

The Absolut Lime Mule is a variation of the classic Moscow Mule, which amps up the citrus with our Lime-Flavored Vodka to create a Lime lovers’ dream.

How To Make an Absolut Lime Mule

What You’ll Need

• Jigger or Measuring Instrument 
• Citrus Elbow
• Bar Spoon
• Paring Knife
• Mule Mug (or Rocks Glass)

How to Mix

1. Cut one Lime in half using a Paring Knife.
2. Juice the Lime halves with a Citrus Press into a Jigger, then pour the Lime Juice directly into your Mule Mug.
3. Measure and pour Absolut Vodka into the Mug using a Jigger.
4. Fill the Mule Mug to the top with Ice Cubes.
5. Top up with Ginger Beer.
6. Stir the cocktail with a Bar Spoon to blend the flavors.
7. Cut another Lime in half.
8. Slice a Lime Wedge from one of the halves with your Paring Knife.
9. Drop the Lime Wedge directly into your Mule Mug to garnish.
10. Sip and enjoy!

The History of the Absolut Lime Mule

The Absolut Lime Mule is, of course, a variation of the classic Moscow Mule. Recently, the Moscow Mule ranked as the third most popular cocktail here on Absolut Drinks.

As the story goes, the Moscow Mule originated in New York but gained popularity in Los Angeles during the early 1940s. The drink’s rise to fame came when a bartender, a Vodka distributor, and a struggling Ginger Beer maker teamed up to shake up the drinking scene.

Their genius marketing move of serving the cocktail in a unique Copper Mule Mug quickly made the Moscow Mule a sensation. And it’s been a favorite ever since.

Absolut Lime, our Lime-Flavored Vodka, was released in 2017 and the Absolut Lime Mule was born soon after.

Tips for Making the Perfect Absolut Lime Mule

• Fresh Lime Juice
  You weren’t really going to use store-bought stuff, were you? No, no. Buy some lime and a Citrus Elbow (or Citrus Juicer) and make your own Lime Juice. If you want your Mule to taste incredible, like the ones you get at a bar, you’ve got to make your own juice.

• Even more Lime Juice
  In the video, you’ll notice when Rico garnishes his drink, he squeezes the Lime Wedge over it to add even more Lime Juice before dropping it into the Mule Mug. If you’re a Lime lover like we are, we suggest squeezing your garnish for that extra burst of juice.

• Chill your Mule Mug
  Put your Mule Mug (Copper or Stainless-Steel) in the freezer for 10 minutes before mixing. A chilled Mule Mug just adds to the drinking experience.

• Choose the best ingredients

  When making a Mule, the simplicity of its ingredients means there’s no room for error, so it’s crucial to pick the best ones based on your tastes.

  For instance, if you prefer a Ginger Beer that’s spicier or has a sharper bite, choose your favorite brand.
