The Bourbon Sour is a stunning cocktail with a punchy, citrusy flavor profile that pals around real nice with the smooth, warming vibes of bourbon.
This classic tipple heralds from the world of American whiskey and is expertly balanced, combining bourbon, tangy lemon juice, a smidgeon of sweetness from simple syrup, and a dash or two of bitters. To really mix things up, there’s even an egg white whipped up in there, bestowing a silky, frothy finish.
You can use any bourbon you like for a Bourbon Sour. It’s best to use a good quality bourbon since it’s the star of the show. Don’t worry too much about using top-shelf stuff though, an affordable good quality bourbon will still make an amazing cocktail.
The classic Bourbon Sour recipe does include egg whites. They’re what whip up to give the cocktail its creamy texture and frothy top. If you’re looking for a vegan alternative or are just feeling icky about raw eggs, you can use Aquafaba instead.
