Bourbon ist nach dem Ort benannt, an dem er zum ersten Mal hergestellt wurde, und ist die amerikanische Form von Whiskey. Bourbon wird aus Mais (mindestens 51 %) und anderen Rohstoffen wie Weizen, Roggen und gemälzter Gerste hergestellt. Das Gesetz schreibt vor, dass er mindestens zwei Jahre in Eichenfässern gelagert werden muss, bevor er Bourbon genannt werden darf.
