Battezzato in onore del luogo dove è stato prodotto la prima volta, il Bourbon è la versione americana del whiskey. Il bourbon è realizzato con mais (almeno il 51%) e altre materie prime come frumento, segale e orzo maltato. Per legge deve essere conservato in barili di quercia per due anni o più per poter essere denominato bourbon. Il whiskey americano è un mixer eccellente poiché non è così predominante come la sua controparte scozzese.
