What is a Spiced Cosmo Punch?
The Spiced Cosmo Punch is a batch drink and variation of a Cosmopolitan cocktail. It mixes the essential Cosmo ingredients of Absolut Citron, orange curaçao, lime juice, and cranberry juice but then introduces chai tea, champagne and nutmeg for a cozy and festive holiday touch.
What Does a Spiced Cosmo Punch Taste Like?
First, there’s the classic sweet and tart citrus notes from the Absolut Citron, orange curaçao, lime juice, and cranberry juice but then it comes the chai tea, which introduces a whole other element with aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves.
The Champagne then gives the drink a lovely effervescent zing. All in all, the Spiced Cosmo Punch is wonderfully complex and festive.
The History of the Spiced Cosmo Punch:
The Spiced Cosmo Punch s a new cocktail that was created in 2023 by Drink Expert, Elyse Blechman. The drink was made for an episode of ‘Absolut Drinks’, where Elyse made three cocktails for New Year’s Eve.
Tips for Making the Perfect Spiced Cosmo Punch
- Batch Cosmo Cocktails
Batched cocktails are always a great idea, especially during the holiday season when there’s already so much going on. Let guests serve themselves so you can enjoy more time with them and less time mixing drinks in the kitchen! The Spiced Cosmo Punch requires some prep time chopping fruits and freezing ingredients. Given all the effort involved, it’s a perfect opportunity to make this a batch cocktail. Just follow the recipe above and scale the portions to suit the number of guests.
- Use Fresh Nutmeg
Garnish with freshly grated Nutmeg. It’s Drink Expert Elyse’s favorite spice and adds a cozy, holiday aroma and taste. - Don’t overdilute the mold
When you’re getting your citrus mold ready for freezing, make sure it doesn’t get too diluted. Therefore, we suggest using more Cranberry Juice than Water for the best results. - Juice your own juice
Fresh juice adds that extra zing and zest that’ll make your punch so much tastier. Therefore, we highly recommend pressing your own Lime Juice and Orange Juice instead of buying the bottled stuff. Be sure to check out our article about how to extract more juice from your fruits. - Choose your favorite bubbles
We like using G.H.Mumm Champagne in our punch but that’s just our preference. If you don’t have Champagne, you can use Cava, Prosecco, or Sparkling Wine instead. Any of these will work just fine.
