The History of the Vodka Ginger Ale
It’s likely the Vodka Ginger Ale originated as a simplified version of the beloved Moscow Mule, which also combines Vodka with a Ginger-flavored mixer.
Where the Moscow Mule uses Vodka, Ginger Beer and Fresh Lime Juice, the Vodka Ginger Ale opts for Vodka and Ginger Ale and skips the need for citrus pressing, making it an easier variation.
Tips for Making the Perfect Vodka Ginger Ale
Serve ice-cold
To take this drink to another level, chill your Highball Glass and ensure your Ginger Ale and Vodka are perfectly cold. Chilling your Highball Glass will ensure the Ice in your drink doesn’t melt too quickly.
Additionally, there’s something really special about sipping a really cold Vodka Ginger Ale, served in a chilled glass. Aaaaah!
Oh, and remember, the better the quality of your ingredients, the better your drink will taste.
Variations of a Vodka Ginger Ale
Moscow Mule
Not so much a variation but a legendary cocktail in its own right, the Moscow Mule is an iconic blend of Vodka, Ginger Beer, and Lime and served in its very own Copper Mule Mug. If you enjoy a Vodka Ginger Ale, then chances are you’ll love a Moscow Mule. Here’s how to make a Moscow Mule.
Serving and Garnish Ideas for a Vodka Ginger Ale
We recommend serving this drink in a Highball Glass filled with Ice Cubes. Garnish with a Lime Wheel or two, and you’ve got yourself a perfect Vodka Ginger Ale.
First and foremost, Ginger Ale is almost always non-alcoholic whereas Ginger Beer can be alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Ginger Ale is similar to a Ginger-flavored Soda and is sweeter, non-alcoholic, and made using artificial carbonation. Ginger Beer is more intense, spicier and carbonated via fermentation.
