Spiced Cosmo Punch Recipe
WRITTEN BY: SCOTT VAN DORT
The Spiced Cosmo Punch is a festive twist on a classic Cosmopolitan cocktail and, in the words of Drink Expert, Elyse Blechman, is a “a great way to usher in the holidays.”
Like the Cosmo, this punch combines Absolut Citron, orange curaçao, lime juice, and cranberry juice but then – wait for it – it adds chai tea, then topped with champagne and garnished with nutmeg.
Here’s to a merry and bright holiday season!

What is a Spiced Cosmo Punch?
The Spiced Cosmo Punch is a festive variation of a Cosmopolitan cocktail. It mixes the essential Cosmo ingredients of Absolut Citron, orange curaçao, lime juice, and cranberry juice but then introduces chai tea, champagne and nutmeg for a cozy and festive holiday touch.
What Does a Spiced Cosmo Punch Taste Like?
First, there’s the classic sweet and tart citrus notes from the Absolut Citron, orange curaçao, lime juice, and cranberry juice but then it comes the chai tea, which introduces a whole other element with aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves.
The champagne then gives the drink a lovely effervescent zing. All in all, the Spiced Cosmo Punch is wonderfully complex and festive.
Tips for Making the Perfect Spiced Cosmo Punch
- Make a batch
Batched cocktails are always a great idea, especially during the holiday season when there’s already so much going on. Let guests serve themselves so you can enjoy more time with them and less time mixing drinks in the kitchen.OK, there’s a little prep work, including freezing and cooling ingredients in advance, but once that’s done, this punch is simple to mix. - Use Fresh Nutmeg
Garnish with freshly grated Nutmeg. It’s Drink Expert Elyse’s favorite spice and adds a cozy, holiday aroma and taste. - Don’t over-dilute the citrus mold
When you’re getting your citrus mold ready for freezing, make sure it doesn’t get too diluted. Therefore, we suggest using more Cranberry Juice than Water for the best results. - Juice your own juice
Fresh juice adds that extra zing and zest that’ll make your punch so much tastier. Therefore, we highly recommend pressing your own Lime Juice and Orange Juice instead of buying the bottled stuff. Be sure to check out our article about how to extract more juice from your fruits. - Choose your favorite bubbles
We like using G.H.Mumm Champagne in our punch but that’s just our preference. If you don’t have Champagne, you can use Cava, Prosecco, or Sparkling Wine instead. Any of these will work just fine.
To make Brown Syrup, follow our recipe for Simple Syrup but replace White Sugar with Brown Sugar. That’s it! Here’s how to make Simple Syrup.
And why do we use Brown Syrup instead of Simple Syrup for this drink you wonder?
Brown sugar tends to complement cocktails made with aged spirits as well as spices. So, in this case, it works really well with the Chai Tai.
