Passion Fruit Martini Recipe
WRITTEN BY: SCOTT VAN DORT
The Passion Fruit Martini is a Vodka cocktail containing no less than three different Passion Fruit ingredients.
That’s right, first, there’s Passion Fruit Purée, followed by Passion Fruit Liqueur, and topped off with fresh Passion Fruit for the garnish. If you’re a Passion Fruit enthusiast, this is YOUR drink.
Not to be confused with the Pornstar Martini (aka Passion Star Martini), the Passion Fruit Martini combines the delicious tartness and acidity of both Passion Fruit and Lemon Juice, which is then sweetened and perfectly balanced out by a touch of Simple Syrup and Passion Fruit Liqueur.
Sipping a Passion Fruit Martini from a chilled Martini Glass is one of life’s little luxuries. Serve it to your guests at your next gathering and you’re guaranteed friends for life.

The History of the Passion Fruit Martini
Tracing the history of the Passion Fruit Martini is tricky since there are several different drinks that use the name.
Many people use the name interchangeably with the Pornstar Martini (aka Passion Star Martini), which dates back to the early 2000s.
There’s also a version also known as the “Passionfruit Caprioska,” which supposedly dates back to the 1940s. This drink is a twist on the classic Brazilian Caprioska, made with Lime Juice, Sugar, and Cachaça, a spirit distilled from Sugarcane Juice.
Another drink that adopts the name is made with Gin, Lime Juice, and Prosecco.
So, when you’re discussing the Passion Fruit Martini, you first need to find out which version you’re talking about!
The recipe you’ll find here likely came about in the late 2000s.
Tips for Making the Perfect Passion Fruit Martini
- Chill your Glass
Making great cocktails is all about the details. Place your glassware in the freezer 30 minutes to 2 hours beforehand. A chilled glass enhances the overall experience. Trust us, this little tip makes a huge difference. - Make your own Passion Fruit Purée
Simply add the pulp of a few Passion Fruits to a Blender, along with one teaspoon of water per fruit and some Sugar to taste. Blend the mixture, then strain it through a Fine Mesh Sieve.Buy your Passion Fruit a couple of days beforehand. This will allow your Passion Fruit to ripen and become sweeter and more delicious.
However, if you’re buying your Passion Fruit on the same day as you plan to make this cocktail, choose a ripe Passion Fruit.

Serving and Garnish Ideas for a Passion Fruit Martini
Since it’s a Martini, we suggest serving this drink in a Martini Glass and garnishing it with a Passion Fruit half to really bring home both the flavor and visual appeal of the Passion Fruit.
Not quite. While both cocktails feature the taste of Passion Fruit and include Passion Fruit Purée and Vodka, the similarities end there.
The Pornstar Martini incorporates Muddled Pineapple and Absolut Vanilia (Vanilla-Flavored Vodka), whereas the Passion Fruit Martini does not. Instead, the latter uses Passion Fruit Liqueur, original Absolut Vodka, and fresh Lemon Juice.
