All about the Holidayberry Bramble
The Holidayberry Bramble is a festive twist on the classic Bramble cocktail.
Where the original is made with gin and Crème de Mûre (blackberry liqueur), the Holidayberry Bramble uses vodka as its base together with lemon juice, rosemary syrup, and blackberry purée. An eye-catching, elegant sipper that’s sure to impress at any Christmas gathering.
A delightful balance of tart and sweet. The tangy blackberry purée contrasts wonderfully with the bright and sour lemon juice, which is then complemented by sweet, aromatic rosemary.
- Use fresh lemon juice
Store bought bottled lemon juice may be more convenient but squeezing fresh lemon juice will result in a much better tasting and more aromatic drink. - Make your own blackberry purée
Like lemon juice, buying store-bought blackberry purée is quicker but the difference between homemade purée and store-bought is like night and day. See the FAQ section to see how to make your own blackberry purée. - Bruise the rosemary
Gently bruise your sprig of rosemary before garnishing, which will release the essential oils and intensify its aroma and flavor.
- Bramble
The original Bramble is a modern classic made with gin, Créme de Mure (black raspberry liqueur), lemon juice and simple syrup. - Vodka Bramble
Exactly the same as the original Bramble (above) but substitutes gin for vodka. - Use gin
While our recipe for a Holidayberry Bramble uses vodka, other recipes use gin, making it more similar to a classic Bramble. - Add cranberry juice
Many recipes for the Holidayberry Bramble include cranberry juice. Follow the recipe on this page and then add 30 ml of cranberry juice. Cranberry juice adds a lovely tart quality that works well with the blackberry purée. - Wild Berri Bramble
This vodka twist combines Absolut Wild Berri with lemon juice and simple syrup. Top with blackberry liqueur and garnish with a lemon wedge and fresh a couple of blackberries to accentuate the berry flavors. - Bramble Mimosa
This unique cocktail is the fusion of a Bramble and a Mimosa to create something entirely its own. It mixes black raspberry liqueur, blackberry liqueur, elderflower cordial, and champagne for a celebratory twist on a Bramble.
- We recommend garnishing the Holidayberry Bramble with a sprig of rosemary, which gives the drink an undeniable holiday appeal.
- If you’re looking for other ideas to garnish your drink, add a couple of fresh blackberries to complement the blackberry purée. Alternatively, add a few frozen cranberries to add extra tartness to your drink.
- Add a lemon twist alongside the sprig of rosemary for a sharp citrus scent right with your first sip.
Holidayberry Bramble FAQ
To make rosemary syrup, simply follow the same steps for making simple syrup and add ¼ cup rosemary leaves and, after the sugar has disappeared, let the now infused syrup steep for 30 minutes.
-
First, rinse the blackberries under cold water to ensure they are clean before blending.
-
Puree the blackberries by placing them in a food processor and blending until smooth. Add a tablespoon of sugar and blend again.
-
Strain the puree by using a spatula or spoon to push the puree through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any seeds.
- Store in a jar in the refrigerator until you need it.
