ALL ABOUT THE RASPBERRY VODKA TONIC
The Raspberry Vodka Tonic is a twist on a classic Vodka Tonic that uses raspberry-flavored vodka as its base instead in replace of unflavored vodka.
With no shaking or blending, this built drink is one of the easiest drinks to make. It’s also one of the most versatile and can be made with other flavored vodkas. The Raspberry Vodka Tonicmixes Absolut Raspberri, fresh lime juice and tonic water in a highball glass filled with ice glass, garnished with a few fresh raspberries and a lime wheel.
Crisp, fresh and subtly sweet, with the zesty fresh lime juice mingling perfectly with the perceived sweetness of the raspberry-flavored vodka. It’s a perfect drink.
The exact origins of the Raspberry Vodka Tonic are unknown, let alone the original Vodka Tonic. It’s likely that the Vodka Tonic developed in the 1950s as a variation on a classic gin and tonic, when bartenders began experimenting with vodka, which was rapidly gaining popularity at the time.
Absolut Raspberri was launched in 2004 and, therefore, it’s like the Raspberry Vodka Tonic was created shortly after.
Even though the Raspberry Vodka Tonic is extremely simple to make, it’s one of the drinks where the greatness lies in the details. Here’s a couple of tips to make the perfect Raspberry Vodka Tonic:
- Premium tonic water
With so few ingredients, the quality of your ingredients will determine the success of your drink. We highly recommend using a premium tonic water. Tonic water contains quinine, which gives tonic water its distinct bitter taste. Be sure to choose a tonic water that’s crisp and bittersweet.
- Fresh lime juice
Whatever you do, do not use bottled lime juice from the supermarket unless you really have to (i.e. you can’t find fresh limes). One of the key elements to a great tasting Vodka Tonic is the fresh, zesty lime juice, which balances with the mineral qualities of the tonic water. Grab a citrus press and start pressing fresh lime juice – the difference it’ll make to your drink cannot be overstated.
Since the Raspberry Vodka Tonic contains just three ingredients, it offers endless inspiration for countless variations. Here’s just a few ideas:
- Vodka Tonic
The Raspberry Vodka Tonic is a twist on a classic Vodka Tonic, so it’s only fair we highlight the original. Made with Absolut Vodka, lime juice and tonic water, it’s a no-fuss classic that’s loved the world over. Discover the recipe for a Vodka Tonic. - Skinny Bitch (aka Vodka Soda)

Follow the recipe on this page but simply substitute Absolut Raspberri for another Absolut flavored vodka to create a whole new drink. Use Absolut Citron as your base and you’ve got a Lemon Vodka Soda. Use Absolut Watermelon and you’ve got a Watermelon Vodka Soda. You get it!Tip! Be sure to choose a garnish that complements the flavored vodka. For example, if you use Absolut Mango, garnish with a mango spear or mango wedge, or if you use Absolut Wild Berri, garnish with any berry of your choice.
- Just like a classic Vodka Tonic, we recommend serving the Raspberry Vodka Tonic in a highball glass filled with ice cubes.
- To garnish, we suggest a few fresh raspberries placed directly in the glass to visualize and show-off the drink’s raspberry-flavored vodka base.
- We also suggest a lime wheel, which is the perfect garnish for any variation of a Vodka Tonic.
- If you’re looking for something more, a fresh sprig of mint works perfectly too.
