  • Fill the smaller tin of your Boston shaker with ice cubes.

  • Use a knife to cut a lemon in half.
  • Use a citrus elbow or citrus press to juice the lemon halves, then measure and pour the lemon juice into the shaker.
  • Use a jigger to measure and pour simple syrup into the shaker.
  • Connect the large and small tins of your shaker together and shake until chilled.

What is a Mango Fizz Drink?

A Mango Fizz is a vodka fizz cocktail made with mango-flavored vodka, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup, topped up with tonic water and served in a highball glass.

What Does a Mango Fizz Drink Taste Like?

Bubbly and crisp with just the right amount of tropical exoticness courtesy of the mango-flavored vodka and the fresh mango garnish. The timeless and always reliable combination of lemon juice and simple syrup works perfectly with the effervescence from the tonic water. Yep, it’s a summer hit.

The History of the Mango Fizz

Although no documentation exists for the history of the Mango Fizz, Absolut Vodka introduced Absolut Mango, a mango-flavored vodka, in 2007, likely inspiring the creation of this recipe soon after its release.

To understand the Mango Fizz, we must look to its inspiration, the Gin Fizz – a mid-19th century classic believed to have originated in the U.S., which evolved from the Tom Collins

The concept of mixing spirits with soda water dates back to the 18th century, first with gin. However, in the late 19th century and early 20th century, as the popularity of fizzes grew, variations using different spirits, including vodka began to appear.

Tips for Making the Perfect Mango Fizz

The Mango Fizz contains very few ingredients, which means that the quality of the ingredients is even more important. It’s quite simple – the key to great tasting drinks is using the best quality ingredients.

Use fresh lemon juice
Skip the bottled lemon juice you can find on the shelf of your supermarket and pick up some fresh lemons, grab a citrus press and get juicing instead.

Trust us, making great drinks is all about the details and fresh lemon juice is essential for a great tasting fizz cocktail.

Variations of a Mango Fizz

The Mango Fizz adds its own twist to the classic “fizz” cocktail, so it’s only right that we salute the pioneers who paved the way:

  • Gin Fizz
Without the Gin Fizz, the Mango Fizz might not exist. The Gin Fizz is the most well-known fizz cocktail. Made with gin, lemon juice, and syrup, shaken with ice, then topped with carbonated water, it’s a classic drink.

A Gin Fizz is very similar to a Tom Collins, though traditionally, a Tom Collins used “Old Tom gin,” a slightly sweeter form of gin, while it’s unknown what type of gin was originally used in the Gin Fizz. Here’s how to make a classic Gin Fizz.

  • Silver Fizz
Follow the recipe for a Gin Fizz but add egg whites and you’ve now got a Silver Fizz. The egg white creates a wonderfully velvety texture and forms a luxurious, foamy top. Discover how to make a Silver Fizz.
  • Ramos Gin Fizz
It’s impossible to discuss fizz cocktails without talking about the Ramos Gin Fizz. Created in 1888, the Ramos Gin Fizz is a classic cocktail made with gin, cream, lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, egg white and orange flower water.Aside from being delicious to drink, the Ramos Gin Fizz is also known for being notoriously challenging to make, famed for its towering foam and creamy, frothy texture. It requires extensive shaking, often up to 12 minutes, earning its reputation as a bartender’s nemesis and the toughest gin cocktail to perfect!

Serving and Garnish Ideas for a Mango Fizz

The Mango Fizz is an easy-to-make drink, which also means there’s lots of room to experiment with your cocktail.

  • We recommend serving the Mango Fizz in a highball glass so there’s ample room for the soda water. But hey, a Collins glass works great too.
  • Garnish your drink with one or three (but never two!) slices of fresh mango.
  • Alternatively, garnish with a lemon wheel as a nod to a Gin Fizz and to accentuate the lemon flavors in the cocktail.
