The History of the Mango Fizz
Although no documentation exists for the history of the Mango Fizz, Absolut Vodka introduced Absolut Mango, a mango-flavored vodka, in 2007, likely inspiring the creation of this recipe soon after its release.
To understand the Mango Fizz, we must look to its inspiration, the Gin Fizz – a mid-19th century classic believed to have originated in the U.S., which evolved from the Tom Collins.
The concept of mixing spirits with soda water dates back to the 18th century, first with gin. However, in the late 19th century and early 20th century, as the popularity of fizzes grew, variations using different spirits, including vodka began to appear.
Tips for Making the Perfect Mango Fizz
The Mango Fizz contains very few ingredients, which means that the quality of the ingredients is even more important. It’s quite simple – the key to great tasting drinks is using the best quality ingredients.
Use fresh lemon juice
Skip the bottled lemon juice you can find on the shelf of your supermarket and pick up some fresh lemons, grab a citrus press and get juicing instead.

Serving and Garnish Ideas for a Mango Fizz
The Mango Fizz is an easy-to-make drink, which also means there’s lots of room to experiment with your cocktail.
- We recommend serving the Mango Fizz in a highball glass so there’s ample room for the soda water. But hey, a Collins glass works great too.
