The merkén or merquén (From Mapuche language), is a dressing made with smoked dried chili and other ingredients. It is a spicy condiment with some smoky flavor and looks like red powder with small flakes of different shades. It is traditional in the Mapuche kitchen of Chile, but in other countries there are similar preparations, such as Mexico chile tree and the called red pepper preparation.
