- Ice Game
Use large, clear ice cubes in both your shaker and highball glass. They melt slower and keep your Alabama Slammer No 2 drink colder without watering it down. - Squeeze It Yourself
If you want to make great tasting drinks, then you’ve got to use fresh oranges and lemons to make your juice. No bottled juice. Roll the fruit before juicing to get the most flavor and brightness in your cocktail. - No fine straining required
Many drinks require a Hawthorne strainer together withg a fine mesh strainer to achieve a silky, professional finish. However, since the Alabama Slammer No 2 is served in a highball glass filled with ice cubes, there’s no need to fine strain. Simply use a Hawthorne strainer and pour directly into your glass.
- Quick Balance Test
Taste right before you strain it. Too sweet? Add a bit more lemon juice.
- Alabama Slammer
You can’t talk about the Alabama Slammer No 2 without referencing the original classic. A traditional Alabama Slammer mixes rye whiskey, sloe gin, amaretto and orange juice. It’s then garnished with an orange wedge and a cherry. - Make it peachy
To really accentuate those peach flavors, infuse your peach-flavored bourbon overnight with dried peach slices. If you can’t find peach-flavored bourbon, try mixing peach schnapps with bourbon to get those peachy flavors and iconic Southern charm.
- We recommend serving an Alabama Slammer No 2 in a highball glass as it’s the perfect size glass for all that orange juice.
- To garnish, we recommend a fresh peach slice.
- For a little extra flair, flambé your peach slice or peach wedge with a kitchen torch for a caramelized look and added depth of flavor. As always, be careful when you’re using torches or flames.
- In addition to or instead of a peach slice, garnish your Alabama Slammer No 2 with a lemon wedge and a Maraschino cherry. Maraschino cherries and amaretto work incredibly together!
