Have you ever fancied being a professional bartender? But has no time, money or ever want to leave your present occupation? Still want to throw a descent and memorable cocktail party at home? Read on!
To be able to make drinks or throw a decent cocktail party you need a few tools and machines. Especially if you are want to be that professional bartender of your neighborhood. And make those drinks that taste just like in your favorite bar.
I recommend you first of all to have a look in your kitchen. And don’t tell me you don’t know where it is. I’m pretty sure that you have a few needed tools already, you’re probably just not aware of it. Second, be well prepared. It’s much nicer to be able to enjoy the party with yourself as guest. So, try to make those drinks that can be made in advance. And third, but no least important: have plenty of dry ice in stock.
A must A bar spoon. The tool that you stir your drinks with, are also best friend with the mixing glass. A measurement. Try to measure the drinks in the beginning. When you are a pro, you don’t need to do this. Could be a small shot-glass. A Knife and a cutting board. It should be large enough to be useful, small enough to not get in the way. A Shaker. Nothing can replace a good quality cocktail shaker.
More advanced (or call a bartender to come over) A Strainer. Don't even think of trying to strain a cocktail through your fingers. A Blender. A noisy addition to any bar, but useful to have at hand for certain cocktails. An ice crusher. Normal ice cubes could sometimes be too big for some cocktails. A Muddler. A good muddler is important. Make sure it is long enough.
Here’s a simple but enjoyable cocktail for the holidays.
The Lemony Snickets Cocktail 1 part ABSOLUT VANILIA 1 part Lemon juice 1 dash Pineapple Juice 1 Bar spoon Cinnamon Syrup Shake with ice, strain into chilled cocktail glass with crushed ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a lemon peel.
Have you figured out what kind of tools you need to enjoy this?
