Drink Classics Reveal a Sweet Tooth

A new trend is sweeping through the grooviest bars and leaving a sweet aftertaste: Chocolate.

Everyone knows that chocolate plays well with others -- fruit, berries, nuts, etc. So why not bring such delicious combinations together -- and drink them? Of course, chocolate has long been a key ingredient in many specialty dessert drinks. What's new is the "Choctail" -- chocolate brought to bear on such classics as the Martini, Daiquiri, Gimlet, and many more.

The ABSOLUT range mixes brilliantly with chocolate. But so do Plymouth Gin and Cruzan Rum. The flavor tag-team can be lined up in many ways: a bite of chocolate on the side of the drink, a chocolate rimming on a well-chilled class, or by adding chocolate liqueur to many best-loved cocktails. Choctails are preferably made with a non-creamy chocolate liqueur, like Mozart black or Cartrons Cacao Brown.

Here are a few tempting examples. But don't be afraid to put any of your favorite ABSOLUT recipes through the chocolatizer.

ABSOLUT VANILIA Chocolate Martini.
1 part ABSOLUT VANILIA
1 part non-creamy chocolate liqueur
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
(This drink is said to be very popular in India, especially during Sunday brunch.)

CRUZAN CHOCOLATE DAIQUIRI
2 parts Cruzan light
1 part non-creamy chocolate liqueur
1 part fresh lime juice and sugar to taste
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass

PLYMOUTH CHOCOLATE GIMLET
2 parts Plymouth Gin
1 part Lime juice cordial
Splashes of non-creamy chocolate liqueur to taste
Garnish with some chocolate

ABSOLUT CHOCOLATE CAIPIROSCKA
½ lime cut into pieces
Sugar to taste (2-3 tsp)
2 parts ABSOLUT VODKA
1 part non-creamy chocolate liqueur
Muddle the fruit and sugar in an old-fashioned glass / tumbler
Add the ABSOLUT & the liqueur
Stir and fill the glass with cracked ice
Serve with a teaspoon
Can be made with ABSOLUT VODKA or your favourite ABSOLUT VODKA Flavour

CRUZAN SINGLE BARREL CHOCOLATE JULEP
2 parts Cruzan Single Barrel
1 part non-creamy chocolate liqueur
Fresh mint
Muddle the mint with sugar in a rocks glass
Add Cruzan Single Barrel & liqueur
Stir and fill the glass with cracked ice
Garnish with mint
